About Jake

Jake's practice covers all areas of restructuring and insolvency law, including CCAA, receivership and proposal proceedings, as well as out-of-court restructurings. Jake regularly represents debtors, court officers, DIP Lenders, secured creditors and unsecured creditors, with a focus on restructuring litigation. He has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario, as well as before the Alberta Court of King's Bench. 

Jake joined Blakes as a summer student and subsequently articled with the Firm. He maintains a significant pro bono practice, assisting low-income Ontarians with bankruptcy matters and through the Pro Bono Ontario Hotline.

  • The secured creditor NYDIG ABL LLC in the Iris Energy (IE CA 3 Holdings and IE CA 4 Holdings) British Columbia receivership proceedings (cryptocurrency)

  • The proposal trustee and receiver in the insolvency proceedings of Triple J Pipelines (Oil and Gas)

  • Certain secured creditors and the DIP Lenders in the CCAA proceedings of the Hudson's Bay Company (retail)

  • Red Lobster in its recognition proceedings under the CCAA (food and beverage)

  • The secured creditor PNC Bank in enforcement proceedings against a private aircraft (aerospace)

  • Multiple aircraft lessors in the proposal proceedings of Canada Jetlines (aerospace)

  • Multiple aircraft lessors in the CCAA proceedings of Lynx Airlines (aerospace)

  • A secured creditor in the CCAA proceedings of Ted Baker (retail)

  • Multiple unsecured creditors in the CCAA proceedings of the Nordstrom Canada entities (retail)
