• Assisting in the defence of a large multinational corporation specializing in the production of industrial gases against a significant claim related to the design and construction of a steam methane reformer in Northern Alberta, involving damages claims in excess of C$570-million

• Acting for an owner of a large canal project in a multimillion-dollar dispute involving prime and sub-contractors regarding construction scope, deficiencies and delays

• Acting for energy infrastructure companies on matters relating to land acquisition and the construction of pipeline projects, including landowner disputes

• Acting as litigation counsel to a Canadian energy company in proceedings involving a pipeline failure and force majeure claims

• Counsel to a Canadian energy company in a dispute with landowners regarding the unauthorized extraction of subsurface minerals, addressing issues of mineral rights infringement, unlawful conversion, trespass and compensation claims

• Assisting in the representation of a Canadian municipality in a multimillion-dollar dispute regarding allegations of unlawful contract termination, delay, disruption and bad faith in the context of a significant public transportation project

• Arbitration counsel for an institutional landlord in a multimillion-dollar dispute about operational costs, which was successfully resolved

• Arbitration counsel for a municipality in a two-week multi-party multimillion-dollar dispute involving fleet vehicle management

• Counsel to leading multinational manufacturers and distributors in the defence of individual product liability actions involving surgical devices, hospital equipment and other industrial equipment

• Representing public companies, directors, officers and shareholders in corporate and shareholder disputes

• Litigation counsel to financial institutions in proceedings involving breach of contract, negligence, and employee dispute claims

• Successfully defending large financial institutions against claims brought by former clients and employees

• Representing financial institutions in litigation involving allegations of investment negligence

• Managing registered office claims for corporate clients, including coordinating intake of service documents and ensuring timely response or defence

Commercial Real Estate Matters

• Counsel to a German open-ended real estate fund on its C$500-million+ acquisition of the commercial portion of Stantec Tower in Edmonton, Alberta

• Counsel to the purchaser on the acquisition of The Bow office tower in Calgary, Alberta and Bell Creekbank Campus in Mississauga, Ontario

• Acting for renewable energy companies in respect of acquisitions and dispositions of wind, solar and hydro-electric projects and facilities and aiding in connection with project financings in respect of such projects

• Acting for institutional lenders in land acquisition and commercial development financing loans

• Negotiating leases and subleases on behalf of a wide range of retail clients, oilfield service companies, and companies expanding into the Canadian market

• Acting for foreign and domestic institutional lenders on construction and term financings of commercial and industrial properties

• Advising landlords and tenants in the leasing of commercial properties

• Advising lenders and borrowers in financing real estate developments

• Advising vendors and purchasers in the sale of commercial real estate
