About Julia

Julia is a Partner in our Competition, Antitrust & Foreign Investment group. She advises clients on all aspects of competition law, including mergers and acquisitions, criminal and civil investigations, and regulatory compliance matters. She also advises on foreign investment merger review under the Investment Canada Act.

Julia has advised international and Canadian clients on a wide variety of competition law matters, and has been involved in a number of large, high-profile mergers in a variety of industries including financial services, energy, consumer products and manufacturing.

In 2014, she was seconded to a multinational package delivery company, where she worked on a variety of corporate and commercial matters.

  • Royal Bank of Canada on its C$13.5-billion acquisition of HSBC Bank of Canada

  • Equinix, Inc. on its C$1.04-billion acquisition of 25 data-centre facilities across Canada from BCE Inc.

  • Elanco Animal Health Incorporated on its US$7.6-billion purchase of Bayer AG's animal health business

  • Praxair Inc. in connection with its US$33.9-billion combination with Linde AG

  • Zodiac Aerospace on its US$7.7-billion acquisition by Safran

  • The Washington Companies on its US$1.2-billion acquisition of Dominion Diamond

  • Brand Energy & Infrastructure in its merger with Safway Group Holding LLC

  • Syngenta AG in Canada on its indirect acquisition by an affiliate of ChemChina for approximately US$43-billion

  • Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV in connection with its approximately £71-billion acquisition of SABMiller plc and in connection with the US$12-billion on-sale of the Miller Brands business to Molson Coors

  • Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV on its US$417-million acquisition of a portfolio of brands and related assets from the Mark Anthony Group of Companies

  • Holcim Ltd. on its C$50-billion merger with Lafarge S.A.

  • Standard Life on the C$4-billion sale of its Canadian insurance business to Manulife

  • Deutsche Bank AG in connection with the C$580-million sale of its Fairview Container Terminal to Dubai Ports Worldree
