About Lindsay

Lindsay practises all aspects of commercial litigation and arbitration with a focus on complex contract construction, infrastructure, and energy disputes. She regularly represents clients in both international and domestic commercial arbitrations, including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the ADR Institute of Canada (ADRIC), and ad hoc arbitrations.

Lindsay has represented clients at all levels of Court in Alberta, in regulatory proceedings before the Alberta Energy Regulator and the Alberta Securities Commission, and in matters before the Northwest Territories Supreme Court, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and the Supreme Court of Canada. She has significant experience in applications, trials and appeals.

Lindsay is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). She is also an elected director and the Alberta Chapter Chair of the Canada Branch of CIArb. Lindsay is an elected member of the Y-ADR Steering Committee of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution (CPR).

At Blakes, Lindsay is a co-chair of the Calgary Student Committee.

Select Experience

Construction, Infrastructure, and Energy Disputes

  • Acted for Coastal GasLink Pipeline in the Alberta Courts and the Supreme Court of Canada in the successful defense of injunction proceedings involving a C$117-million draw on a letter of credit (Excellence Awardee at the Canadian Law Awards 2025)

  • Acted for a project owner in a C$1-billion International Chamber of Commerce construction arbitration involving a pipeline

  • Represented a major Canadian energy company in an ad hoc international arbitration involving a joint venture project

  • Counsel to a large Canadian midstream energy company in a significant contract dispute involving the operation of a natural gas facilities in Alberta

  • Acted for a multinational gas company in an ad hoc arbitration involving project delay claims and cost overruns

  • Counsel to Inuvialuit Regional Corporation in successful applications before the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories to stay two court actions for arbitration

  • Counsel to a public entity in a multi-party construction dispute involving the construction of a major project in Alberta

  • Acted for a facility owner in a dispute involving the construction of a renewable energy facility

  • Litigation counsel to Canadian energy company in a significant pipeline failure and dispute

Commercial Disputes

  • Trial counsel for a major transportation service company in a C$300-million commercial real estate dispute

  • Represented a Canadian oil and gas company in a contaminated site litigation

  • Represented an international chemicals company in a breach of contract dispute

  • Litigation counsel in a number of shareholder and creditor disputes

  • Litigation counsel to a media company in a contract and accounting dispute
