About Louise

Louise has been with Blakes since 1981. She has worked on numerous cases in areas such as environmental, Indigenous, insurance, labour, banking, competition and commercial litigation, and has been instrumental in the development and implementation of computer databases for document production and trial preparation.

Louise has developed expertise in the area of costs, including costs awarded between parties as well as assessments of solicitors' accounts pursuant to the Solicitor's Act, and is frequently consulted by both lawyers within and outside the Firm in this regard. Her duties in this area include both preparation of bills of costs and attending and arguing at assessment hearings. In addition, she assists counsel in the preparation of costs briefs for use when costs are fixed by the court.

Louise also has comprehensive experience in the area of personal injury law, including preparation for and attending on mediations and arbitrations before the Ontario Insurance Commission.

Professional Activities

Louise has appeared as a speaker and facilitator at several litigation conferences on the topic of e-discovery and has acquired significant experience developing best practices and knowledge of technology regarding electronic discovery.
