About Lyann

Lyann is developing a broad civil and commercial litigation practice. She has experience in class actions, complex tort and contractual disputes, internal investigations, employment and labour law and shareholder disputes.

Lyann has appeared or assisted with matters before the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the British Columbia Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Yukon and the British Columbia Labour Relations Board. Lyann has advised local and international clients operating in a wide range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, health sciences, technology, banking, mining and renewable energy.

Select Experience

Some of Lyann’s recent experience includes:

Counsel to the employer, a financial institution, in a contractual dispute concerning the interpretation of a loan agreement and where the employer asserted termination with just cause
Advising employers to successfully resolve wrongful dismissal proceedings, human rights complaints and employment standards matters
Participating in class action defence counsel teams for clients such as:
- an active pharmaceutical ingredient supplier in a proposed national class proceeding;
- an internet-technology company in a proposed class action involving consumer protection, price-fixing and competition/antitrust claims; and
- a publicly traded mining company in a proposed class action alleging breaches of the B.C. Securities Act
Providing crisis management services to clients involving whistleblower allegations, corruption and anti-bribery, cybersecurity, and internal disputes involving potentially significant reputational risk
Advising public companies, directors and officers, and shareholders in corporate disputes involving alleged breaches of the B.C. Business Corporations Act
