About Maria

Maria’s practice focuses on environmental, regulatory and Indigenous law matters.

Maria provides strategic advice to clients regarding risk management and compliance in the development of large projects. She assists clients with resolving disputes, negotiating agreements with Indigenous communities and navigating complex regulatory frameworks such as environmental assessments. She has experience advising on project permitting and consultation, and has appeared before various administrative bodies and tribunals. Maria has broad experience across various industries, including the natural resource, utility, midstream and mining sectors.

Before moving to British Columbia, she practiced in Calgary at an international law firm. She has also had the opportunity to gain practical risk management knowledge while working at a Vancouver-based consulting firm.

  • Drafting commercial agreements involving Indigenous nations and providing related advice

  • Representing clients on judicial reviews of decisions made by administrative bodies

  • Providing strategic advice and support on engaging Indigenous groups, regulators and other governmental agencies
