Mercer returns to Blakes as an Articling Student after joining the Firm as a summer student in 2021.

Mercer obtained his JD from the University of Calgary. While in law school, Mercer served as an executive on the Society of Law Students and participated in the Business Venture Clinic. He also received the Howard Tidswell Memorial Award in Law and the W.G. Brown K.C. Prize in Advanced Energy and Resource Law for the highest standing in Oil and Gas Contracts.

Prior to law school, Mercer earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary while playing for the Dinos Football team. Mercer went on to play three seasons in the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats before retiring as a Toronto Argonaut.

In his spare time, Mercer enjoys skiing, mountain biking, board games, and listening to audiobooks.
