About Nick
Nick's practice focuses on commercial real estate and finance, with an emphasis on energy, infrastructure and real asset transactions, including project development, acquisitions and dispositions, secured lending and joint ventures. He acts for institutional and private lenders, investors, pension funds, developers and independent power producers on transactions involving industrial, data centre, power, office, retail and mixed-use assets. Nick also provides real estate advice in connection with broader commercial transactions, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions and project-based financings.
His financing experience includes bilateral and syndicated loan facilities, construction and project financings, fund financings, including capital call and subscription-backed facilities, and commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) transactions. His energy and infrastructure experience includes advising developers and independent power producers on site control and land assembly for wind, solar and battery energy storage projects, and negotiating options to lease and purchase, project leases and related arrangements in support of bids into provincial electricity procurements.
Prior to joining Blakes, Nick practiced at a national law firm in Toronto.
