About Rachael

Rachael practises in all areas of corporate/commercial litigation and dispute resolution. She has experience in a variety of areas, including civil arbitration, contractual disputes, claims for relief from oppression, civil liability for misrepresentations, and securities litigation.

Prior to joining Blakes, Rachael practised at a leading corporate and securities litigation boutique. She has appeared before the Toronto Commercial List and Ontario Small Claims Court and has assisted on matters before the Ontario Securities Commission and the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization.

Select Experience

Prior to joining Blakes, Rachael was involved in the following representative matters:

  • Representing a former executive of a mineral development company in pursuing breach of contract claims and defending against claims alleging breach of fiduciary duty and corporate governance failures

  • Assisting a respondent in a proceeding before the Ontario Capital Markets Tribunal with respect to allegations involving misappropriation of investor funds and fraudulent misrepresentations

  • Assisting in defending breach of contract and wrongful dismissal claims in private arbitration for a financial services company

  • Assisting a shareholder in a closely held corporation in pursuing breach of contract claims and shareholder relief while defending against oppression claims in private arbitration
