Rena recently obtained her JD from Queen's University Faculty of Law. During her time at Queen's she served as the managing editor of blogs on the Canadian Journal of Commercial Arbitration, as well as a volunteer submissions editor.

Additionally, Rena worked as a student caseworker with the Queen's Elder Law Clinic and served as a student mentor to new caseworkers at the clinic in the 2022–2023 academic year. Rena also volunteered as a summer clinician with the Law Students' Legal Advice Program in the summer of 2021.

Prior to law school, Rena earned her bachelor of arts in sociology from The University of British Columbia.
