About Sanjit

Sanjit has a broad civil and commercial litigation practice. He has experience with matters in a variety of areas, including intellectual property (IP) law and procurement law.

Sanjit has appeared as co-counsel before the Federal Court of Canada. He has experience assisting in the preparation of legal opinions on issues relating to public and private procurement disputes, injunctions and arbitration. He also regularly advises clients on the IP aspects of commercial and M&A transactions.

Before joining Blakes, Sanjit clerked at the Court of Appeal for Ontario. He also practised law in India for five years, including at the in-house legal department of a major consumer goods manufacturing company. While there, he worked on complex constitutional and regulatory litigation, defamation and commercial litigation matters, and advised business teams on corporate commercial transactions, product regulation, and advertising and marketing laws.

Professional Activities

Sanjit is a member of the Canadian and Ontario Bar Associations and the Toronto Lawyers Association.

He has been published in The Advocates' Quarterly, the National Law School of India Review and The IPKat blog, and volunteers at Pro Bono Ontario's Free Legal Advice Hotline.
