About Sina

Sina's practice focuses primarily on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. He advises clients on various aspects of the process, from due diligence to transaction closing, including drafting, negotiating and reviewing purchase agreements and related transaction documents.

Sina has participated in a wide range of commercial transactions in various sectors, including renewable energy and power, infrastructure, transportation, travel, e-commerce and logistics.

Sina also routinely advises clients on their corporate and commercial matters including with respect to corporate reorganization and commercial agreements.

Sina is fluent in English and French.

Recent matters on which Sina has acted include:

  • A renewable energy company in its acquisition of a wind development portfolio of 400+MW

  • Public Sector Pension Investment Board in connection with its C$3.1-billion acquisition of a 7.51% minority stake in 407 Express Toll Route (407 ETR)

  • Citation Group (a portfolio company of HG Capital and KKR) on its acquisition of Agendrix Inc.

  • Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. on its US$2.5-billion sale of its renewable energy business, including a portfolio of wind and solar assets, to a subsidiary of LS Power

  • Dentalcorp, Canada's leading network of dental practices, in connection with various strategic acquisitions

  • The founders of Paxiom Group on their sale to ATS Corporation (TSX: ATS)

  • Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and Fonds de solidarité des travailleurs du Québec (F.T.Q.) in their acquisition of a 65% interest in Nortera Foods (formerly Bonduelle) based on an enterprise value at 100% of C$850-million

  • Xiphos Systems Corporation on its sale to Epiq Solutions, a portfolio company of The Veritas Capital Vantage Fund, LP

  • Sycamore Partners in its acquisition of Lowe's Companies, Inc.'s Canadian retail business including Lowe's Canada and Rona stores

  • A global loyalty technology firm on the sale of its travel operations division

  • Trystar (a portfolio company of Blackstone and Goldner Hawn) in their acquisition of Primax Technologies

  • An institutional investor in its minority interest acquisition in a company specializing in concert and entertainment transportation

  • Institutional investors on the sale of their interest in senior housing retirement properties

  • FirstLight Power in its acquisition of Hydroméga Services Inc.
