Spencer's practice focuses primarily on assisting clients with general corporate and commercial matters. His experience includes working on mergers and acquisitions, commodities trading and energy derivatives agreements, carbon offset trading, joint ventures, corporate reorganizations and project development.
Spencer has obtained industry experience working in the legal departments at three leading Canadian energy production and infrastructure companies.

Suncor Energy Inc. on its C$1-billion acquisition of an additional 21.3% working interest in the Fort Hills Project from Teck Resources Limited
Suncor Energy Inc. on the sale of its wind and solar assets for C$730-million to Canadian Utilities Limited
Pembina Pipeline Corporation in its C$11.4-billion joint venture to merge Canadian natural gas processing assets with KKR
Pembina Pipeline Corporation on its proposed C$8.3-billion acquisition of Inter Pipeline Ltd.
Imperial Oil Resources Limited and ExxonMobil Canada Ltd. on the disposition of their interest in XTO Energy Canada to Whitecap Resources Inc. for C$1.9-billion
