About Dana

Dana's practice covers a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, investments, infrastructure, and commercial transactions.

Dana has experience acting for clients in a variety of sectors, including food and beverage, life sciences, financial services, infrastructure, and private equity. In addition, Dana has worked with government-owned or regulated entities as well as clients whose operations include government-owned assets, advising on regulatory and policy matters as they relate to private sector commercial activities.

Dana has also worked as in-house counsel on a secondment with a large retail service company where she advised on various corporate and commercial matters and provided practical day-to-day advice to various business units. In addition, she previously completed a secondment at a leading North American energy generator, where she was engaged in a variety of regulatory and commercial matters.

Dana joined Blakes as a summer student in 2017 and completed her articles with the Firm in 2018-2019.

Recent representative matters include acting on behalf of and advising:

  • A leading beverage company on acquisitions in the craft and ready-to-drink spaces

  • A private equity firm in connection with the establishment of a dental service organization and its continuing consolidation of specialist dental and orthodontist practices across Canada

  • Pacific Equity Partners on its C$165-million divestiture of AST Investor Services Inc. (Canada) and AST Trust Company (Canada) to the TMX Group Limited

  • A multinational bank in connection with multiple corporate reorganizations

  • Power Financial and Power Corporation on their and Great-West Lifeco's substantial issuer bids totalling C$5-billion

  • Arjun Infrastructure Partners and Fengate Asset Management on the acquisition of ONroute highway service centres

  • The successful proponent in achieving financial close on a C$5.7-billion project to design, build, finance and maintain the Gordie Howe International Bridge, a new publicly-owned international bridge crossing between Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan

Professional Activities

Dana is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association. Dana also provides pro bono legal services to Pro Bono Ontario, as well as other charitable and not-for-profit organizations.
