  • Canadian counsel to FLSmidth & Co A/S on its proposed acquisition of the mining business of thyssenkrupp AG for an enterprise value of €280-million

  • Dow Chemical in its C$1-billion+ litigation with NOVA Chemicals Corporation with respect to operation of facilities under a joint venture

  • Worley Parsons Limited on its US$3.3-billion acquisition of the Energy, Chemicals and Resource business of Jacobs Engineering Group

  • Evonik Industries AG announced an agreement with One Equity Partners to acquire US-based PeroxyChem for US$625-million

  • WestJet in connection with its C$5.0-billion acquisition by Onex Corporation

  • Red Hat, Inc. on its US$34-billion sale to IBM

  • Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV in connection with its approximately £71-billion acquisition of SABMiller plc and in connection with the US$12-billion on-sale of the Miller Brands business to Molson Coors

  • BCE Inc. on its C$3.38-billion acquisition of all the issued and outstanding shares of Montreal-based Astral Media Inc.

  • BCE Inc. on its acquisition of an ownership position in Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, which owns the Toronto Maple Leafs NHL hockey franchise, Toronto Raptors NBA basketball franchise, and Toronto FC MLS soccer franchise

  • Suncor Energy Inc. on its C$43.3-billion merger with Petro-Canada

  • InBev in connection with its US$52-billion acquisition of Anheuser-Busch

  • Maple Leaf Foods Inc. on the sale of its Rothsay rendering and biodiesel business to Darling International Inc.

  • ConAgra Foods Inc. on the Canadian Competition Act approval of its US$4.95-billion acquisition of Ralcorp Holdings Inc.

  • Continental Airlines on its US$6.2-billion merger with United Airlines

  • Baker Hughes on its US$5.5-billion acquisition of BJ Services

Professional Activities

Micah has written numerous articles on merger law, efficiencies and the efficiencies defence, abuse of dominance, and legal and economic analyses of network industries. In addition, he is the current chair of the Law & Economics Committee of the National Competition Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) and has made numerous contributions to the policy work of that and other CBA section committees.

Micah was an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, where he taught regulation of competition for seven years.
