About Zackary
Zackary's practice focuses on corporate and securities litigation and investigations. He has experience with shareholder disputes, proxy contests, contested M&A transactions, class actions, and other complex commercial litigation matters. Zackary began his litigation practice after clerking for Justice Nicholas Kasirer at the Supreme Court of Canada. After his clerkship, he practised at a leading law firm in New York City, where he focused on high-profile securities litigation and investigations.
Zackary has achieved successful outcomes in a range of high-stakes matters. Recently, he was part of a team at Blakes that successfully defended a client before the British Columbia Securities Commission in a hard-fought proxy contest involving allegations of entrenchment.
Before joining Blakes, he was part of a team that secured victories in a major securities class action in the United States, including a landmark decision that protected privilege in internal investigations and another that vacated class certification. He was also part of a team that obtained court approval for a complex plan of arrangement recognized as the M&A Deal of the Year at the 2023 Canadian Law Awards.
