Building community among Black lawyers and driving progress in the legal profession are priorities for CABL’s new president, who is D&I Counsel at Blakes.
Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes) is pleased to announce that Kyle Elliott, the Firm’s Counsel, Diversity & Inclusion, has been elected President of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (CABL). With chapters across the country, CABL is the largest professional association for Black lawyers in Canada.
“I look forward to serving as president of CABL and leading our board in its mission to build community among Black lawyers in Canada,” Kyle said. “Through meaningful engagement with our members, we will ensure CABL remains a strong voice for Black lawyers as we continue to drive progress in our profession.”
Kyle has served on CABL’s board of directors for six years, including as the Director of Communications and a member of several committees. The term of president spans two years.
At Blakes, Kyle is responsible for collaborating with key stakeholders to promote the Firm’s internal diversity and inclusion strategy and initiatives. He also leads the Firm’s diversity and inclusion outreach initiatives that are designed to attract students from diverse backgrounds to the practice of business law. As a result of his experience and impact, Kyle is often called upon by Blakes clients to offer insights and feedback on their efforts to build inclusive workplaces.
