Hospitality & Leisure

Meeting the challenges of increasing competition, changing business conditions and heightened customer expectations requires legal counsel with in-depth industry knowledge and experience across many legal disciplines. We make sure we understand our client’s business objectives and concerns in order to craft the best solution.

Combining our collective expertise and resources, we help hospitality and leisure industry clients navigate the challenges they encounter by connecting them with integrated teams that have experience with structuring, negotiating, documenting and closing large and complex transactions. Clients rely on our expertise in areas of the law that impact their operations and our ability to seamlessly and cost-effectively meet their needs.

Our multidisciplinary team of Hospitality & Leisure lawyers serve a wide cross-section of the industry, including hotels, resorts, golf clubs, casinos and tourist attractions, as well as owners, operators, architects, contractors, engineers, insurance companies, lenders and investors. We advise on construction, development, financing, acquisition, ownership, operation, disposition and restructuring, and have represented clients in connection with sophisticated hospitality and leisure projects and the purchase and sale of facilities across Canada.

Representing a number of hotel owners and management companies, we provide ongoing advice on a range of matters, including commercial contract issues, management and franchise agreements, leasing, financing, restructuring, and cross-border tax issues.

Blakes is an allied member of the Hotel Association of Canada, and we act as legal counsel to the Canadian Hotel Investment Conference.
