About Mungo

Mungo has been with Blakes since 1988. He advises primarily on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate finance and major energy infrastructure project development. His practice is primarily focused on the natural resources and infrastructure industries with experience across all sectors, including petroleum, natural gas, oil sands, electricity, potash and other commodities, pipelines, storage, LNG terminalling and supply arrangements, power generation and transmission. Mungo also has a broad range of experience in P3 (public-private partnership) projects.

Mungo has extensive transactional leadership experience, including international and cross-border, and involving many specialized practice areas, including public markets, tax, regulatory, trade and competition, employment, pensions and litigation.

Recent representative matters include advising:

  • LNG Canada in connection with its Kitimat, BC site acquisition and project impacts agreements with Rio Tinto Alcan and the Haisla First Nation and overall relationship leadership throughout the permitting and ancillary agreement process

  • Kinder Morgan Canada Limited on its C$5.9-billion IPO and its C$4.5-billion sale of the Trans Mountain Pipeline System and Expansion Project to the Government of Canada

  • Trans Mountain Pipeline LP on various commercial aspects of its expansion project

  • ArcLight Capital Partners in connection with the acquisition of an interest in the Alberta Hub Gas Storage Facility by its affiliate, Amphora Canada Gas Storage

  • Cenovus Energy Inc. on its Cold Lake area transportation arrangements with Inter Pipeline Ltd.

Mungo has authored and co-authored a number of papers and spoken at numerous conferences and industry associations, including the Canadian Energy Law Foundation and the U.S.-based Association of Corporate Counsel. He also represents Blakes on a number of industry associations, including the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers and the Petroleum Joint Venture Association.
