There was a time in history when career trajectories followed a linear path. Progressing up the rungs of a ladder was the traditional notion of advancing in your career. Over time, the notion of how we can progress has evolved, and today, there is much greater acceptance of the value of doing some zigzagging in your career.
Now more than ever, our career is more likely to resemble a Scrabble board with moves up, down and sideways. The challenge of knowing which move to make can be significant and only becomes more difficult when gender and racial bias are factored in. According to the 2018 study, opportunities to choose different paths in your career are not uniformly available.
Join us for a discussion with a panel of women CEOs and general counsel who will share stories of their career zigzags and the insights they have gained from navigating biases and barriers. They will also offer their perspectives on how organizations and allies can interrupt racial and gender bias.
