About Daniel

Daniel's practice focuses on domestic and cross-border debt financing transactions. He advises lenders and borrowers in secured and unsecured transactions, bilateral and syndicated financings, and acquisition finance matters. Complementing his core debt finance practice, Daniel also negotiates ISDA documentation and advises clients on interest rate hedging and other derivatives matters related to acquisition and financing transactions.

Recent representative transactions include advising:

  • The lead arrangers in connection with senior secured credit facilities to support the go-private of Sleep Country Canada Inc.

  • Maple Leaf Foods Inc. on its "butterfly" spin-off of Canada Packers Inc.

  • Equinox Gold Corp. on its US$578-million all-stock acquisition of Leagold Mining Corporation and concurrent private placement of US$170-million and debt financing of US$500-million

  • Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank as agent and lead arranger of a series of senior and second-lien syndicated financings totaling US$1.2-billion to a large international shipping company (including Canadian marine mortgages)

  • The lenders to a professional sports franchise
