About Lindsay

Lindsay practises all aspects of commercial litigation and arbitration with a focus on complex construction, infrastructure, and energy disputes. She regularly advises clients in domestic and international commercial arbitrations, including ICC, ADRIC and ad hoc arbitrations.

Lindsay appears at all levels of court in Alberta, including in trials and appeals. She also acts in regulatory proceedings, including before the Alberta Energy Regulator and the Alberta Securities Commission, and in matters before the Supreme Court of Canada.

Lindsay is a director and the Alberta Branch Chair of the Canada Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). She is also a member of the Y-ADR Steering Committee of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution (CPR).

At Blakes, Lindsay is co-chair of the Calgary Student Committee.

Construction, Infrastructure, and Energy Disputes

  • Counsel to Coastal GasLink Pipeline in the Alberta Courts and the Supreme Court of Canada in the successful defense of injunction proceedings involving a C$117-million draw on a letter of credit (Excellence Awardee at the Canadian Law Awards 2025)

  • Arbitration counsel to a project owner in a C$1-billion ICC construction arbitration

  • Counsel to Inuvialuit Regional Corporation in successful applications before the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories to stay court proceedings for arbitration

  • Counsel in multiple construction disputes involving significant public infrastructure projects

  • Arbitration counsel to a large Canadian energy company in a joint venture agreement dispute

  • Litigation counsel to facility owners in multiple gas supply agreement disputes

  • Arbitration counsel to a large energy company in a dispute regarding the operation of natural gas facilities

  • Counsel to a renewable energy facility owner in a dispute involving facility construction issues

  • Litigation counsel to Canadian energy company in proceedings involving a pipeline failure and force majeure claims

  • Counsel for facility owners and contractors in disputes involving gross negligence and willful misconduct claims

  • Counsel in contaminated site and environmental remediation proceedings before the Alberta Energy Regulator and Alberta Courts

  • Trial counsel for a major transportation service company in a large commercial real estate dispute

  • Counsel to a chemicals company in a breach of contract dispute

  • Litigation counsel to a media company in a contract and accounting dispute

  • Counsel to financial institutions in proceedings involving breach of contract, negligence, and employee dispute claims

Professional Activities

Lindsay is an instructor for the University of Calgary Faculty of Law Advocacy Program. She also volunteers with the King's Bench Amicus Program, where she provides pro bono legal advice to unrepresented litigants.

Lindsay regularly writes about litigation and arbitration issues and trends. She is a frequent contributor to Arbitration Matters.
